I was highly disappointed with this product. Having purchased other Tommee Tippee products, all of which have been excellent, my wife and I found this product exceptionally noisy despite being described on the box as discreet and quiet. The item itself works ok, however the Avent electric breast pump is far superior and much quieter.

This pump is noisy at best but on the odd occasion there is an additional screech which is almost unbearable.
The main problem however is that for some reason (I am guessing poor design) milk is often sucked into the air tube.

Found that if you moved at all while using this product fluid would be drawn into the air pipe. This took considerable time to fix as the tube had be be washed and completely dry before use.

I am extremely disappointed with this product. Being a first time mother I bought this pump because a staff at the shop told me it was one of the best, and after reading what was written on the box it seemed like the right one. However, it is not what it says on the box: it is not easy too assemble; the milk is sucked up into the tubing; it is very noisy; it hurt the areola a lot, specially if you had your breasts enhanced; the design is indeed beautiful but not practical (probably designed by a man who have no contact with women or their needs during nursing). The breast cup is too short and as your nipple flexes with the sucking action your nipple is forced against the bottom of the cup neck causing deep and long pain. Furthemore, the neck of the pump is finished in solid white colour not allowing the woman to see the milk coming, of if it is coming, which in my case is very reassuring. I don’t advice this pump to anyone especially for women with big breasts or enhanced breasts. As my baby had to stay in the neonatal for over 6 weeks, the hospital gave for the stay a Medela eletric pump and it was great. After we left hospital I bought a Medela, which has almost the same design as TT but of superior quality when it comes to good excellent result. Definitely it has been the worse piece of item I bought as a mother. And very expensive too.

When it did work it was very noisy and only pumped a small amount of milk. It took over 2 hours to express 2 to 4 ounces. Each time my wife used it it would suck milk into the tube and up into the pump mechanism if the bottle was at the slightest angle, which it needs to be unless you are stood upright which is impracticle given that it takes such a long time to express milk. After working its way into the pump mechanism a couple of times the pump broke outright. We now have the Spectra 3 electric breast pump which is absolutely brilliant. See my review for the Spectra 3 for more information but for goodness sake do not buy the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature pump, it’s lousy.
