I got this set just before I gave birth and my partner laughed and said I would never use it. Boy, was he wrong. My baby had a really strong suck which equalled really really sore nipples. Enter this pump. I have been constantly using it for over three months now and I have always managed to express more than 18 ounces in one go… in about an hour and half. It lets you control your rhythm and expressing, which means less sore nipples and faster milk supply. I have been able to even catch a movie while my mom looked after the baby. Also when I am out and about with the baby I really do not care to have to run around to find a place I can breast feed baby, and also find the whole process quite awkward. Expressing before I go out means I can relax, and bottle feed her the expressed milk wherever I am, including in trains and buses.
I used the Medela Electric pump in hospital once, and it took over 2 hours to express just 8 ounces and hurt like the very dickens. Therefore I recommend this one to anyone wholeheartedly. Its one investment you won’t regret and the price is so reasonable. The bottles come in pretty handy too. Once you move on to the bigger 9 oz bottles, you can use these to freeze milk. Great buy all around.

I was given this product by a friend and never thought i would need to use it. However my mum went into hospital and i needed to express milk so my partner could look after my daughter. After some initial trial and error i soon got the hang of it and was expressing 6oz every morning in 5 minutes flat.
This is easy to asemble and clean and can be packed away in a small box. It also come with lots of spares in case you happen to loose any of the smaller parts.

I’ve only ever used this breast pump, so I can’t compare it to others. However, saying that, I have breast fed two babies for about 6 months each and have expressed both times using this pump. I was easily able to express 15-18 ounces in not very long, and I am quite large in the breast department and have not had any problems there either. As for a part of the pump breaking, I never experienced this, but I did replace the small plastic/rubber thing before I thought it looked worn. I have recommended this pump, and I would again. I think that as my babies received expressed milk in a bottle it made the transition to formula easier for them, when I had to return to work, as they’d been using a bottle not everything was new for them, it also meant that their dad got those lovely cuddles.

I used the Madela mini electric pump for my first 2 children. But when the pump gave out i decided to get this instead. And i love it. I wish i had been using this one from the start.
You can express milk just as quickly as the electric ones and it makes no noise so you can watch TV or pump in the early hours. It is simple to put together and very easy to use. I orginally got an electric one because i thought i would get a sore hand from pumping manually but that is not the case. This can also be sterlised in the microwave making it very quick to clean. 5+

I have recently bought a philips avent manual breast pump and recently returned it in exchange for another brand. I found it very frustrating as the circular valve kept popping out during expressing, I had to stop pull the pump apart re-fit the valve and continue only for it to pop out again and again and again, this reduces the sterility and is inconvenient as I use the pump at work, not to mention it takes longer!
Maybe I just bought a dud but when you spend more than £20 on a product you don’t expect it to be so so so frustrating!
I did like the speed I was able to express in between dismantling and its easy to clean design.
